High tide don’t hide

Pick a side.

In the race for existence, striking teenagers discover that activism, authority and awareness make for a steep learning curve.

Determined to provoke real action, New Zealand teenagers nationwide join the global School Strike for Climate. But planning a movement and building momentum are the easy parts as they face political indifference, their own privilege, and the ongoing struggle to be heard…as the tides continue to rise.

Major Arc is proud to have supported this feature-length documentary.

Highlights in its festival run include its worldwide premiere at the Hawai’i International Film Festival, fronting the prestigious Washington DC Environmental Film Festival, and being one of a handful of films selected globally to take part in a FIFDA Impact Days workshop on impact producing for human rights issues.

Following its screening on PBS stations across the USA, viewers in Aotearoa New Zealand can watch it on TVNZ On Demand until March 2023.

Accompanying this film is an extensive student resource toolkit. This is New Zealand/ Pacific-focused, and can be adapted for international use under a creative commons licence.

We believe there are far more opportunities for High Tide Don’t Hide to be widely seen and to contribute to motivating especially young people towards social justice-centred climate action.
